It's May Already??

April was a whirlwind! I spent a little over a week in Chicago, took a gazillion midterms and saw a lot of old friends.

To kick off May, the man-friend and I rode bikes to the train station and hopped on one to LA. After a visit to Freestyle, we trekked through the streets to Griffith Park. It was sunny and filled with interesting characters and strange interactions. It's really a lost enjoyment, the act of walking. I don't think many people do it for the leisure aspect of walking and observing anymore. But every time I go on a walk, I see or hear something interesting.

On our way back, we made a pit stop at The Soda Station to say hello to our friend/owner, Michael. We bought a grape soda from him and were overjoyed at how delicious it was.

Don't be fooled by his utterly bored face; the soda was beyond what we expected. And he's even opening it with a Soda Station bottle opener!

  1. I love public transportation, and walking to where you need to go. You do see a lot, and just wandering is one of my greatest joys.

Im dreading coming back to l.a, where the public transport sucks..and no one walks anywhere. :(

  2. Okay, so this will be the 2nd time I try to comment on this entry (i just started reading this Blog, I forgot you had it).

Yes, I think people dont walk around enough in L.A. It sucks. Its really inconvenient to be walking around in L.A.

Wandering on foot, and through great public transportation is one of my favorite things to do. You stumble onto some surprising things. And just walking (like walking to the supermarket) give you a nice sense of accomplishment.

I dread coming back to l.a to be dependent on cars, and buses that only come by once an hour. blegh.

  3. Lol. It's working. I have to "moderate" it. I think I'm going to change it to where I don't have to approve comments.

  4. And yes, LA definitely doesn't have a good walking/transportation system. But it can still be done! Justin and I have been biking, walking, and riding the bus/train more!

  5. yeah, but it cant be done daily, unless your a bum. Which i have been thinking about it.. and i wouldnt mind being a vagabond for a while.
eh, scratch that, id like to be a vagabond, but not stay in l.a... that would be dumb, considering i live rent free at my parents anyway.

  6. You certainly wouldn't want to be in La as a bum, I don't think. It seems there could be a whole ton of better areas to be a bum.
